5/1/2024 0 Comments Find Your True North: How Astrology Can Support Aligning With Your Soul Mission on EarthOne of the things that has helped me most throughout my journey was learning about and aligning with my astrological North Node.
I like to think of the North Node as our guiding light in this life; our north star, if you will. It points us in the direction of where we need to place our focus. It is what pushes us towards evolution and it provides us with insight as to how we can align more with our soul mission on earth. Comparatively, the South Node is the opposite. It reflects what we have mastered during a previous incarnation. It is where we might feel safe and comfortable. Yet, there is a lesson here. If we focus solely on nurturing this aspect, on feeling safe and comfortable, we can be left feeling unfulfilled. When we spend a lot of time focusing on this area of our life, we may find ourselves stuck in repeating patterns, habits, and loops. According to Yasmin Boland, author of Moonology: Working with the Magic of Lunar Cycles and creator of the Moonology Oracle Cards, the North Node is where the Moon crosses the ecliptic going north. It is considered a karmic point and provides insight as to where we need to go with our life in order to find satisfaction, fulfillment and happiness. The South Node, on the other hand, is where the Moon crosses the ecliptic going south. It is also a karmic point but is more indicative of where you can get stuck repeating the same patterns. Our South Nodes can be a place where we become drained and lose our energy when out of balance. Some say growth happens when we leave the past behind and begin to push the edges of what is comfortable. When we step out of what is known and familiar to test the waters, so to speak. Yet I feel it is important here to talk about the idea of forcing something to happen. Life is not about one or the other. It is not about sacrificing comfort to plunge into the depths of the unknown. This can be incredibly unsettling to your nervous system. Using these aspects are merely one tool to help understand your energy and where you may choose to place your focus. I recently heard the perspective that our South Node can help to further ground and anchor our North Node. By feeling stable in aspects relating to our South Node, we are able to expand into the limitlessness of our North Node. This ideology seems to support a more balanced state of being and allows us to appreciate feelings of comfort in order to grow rather than viewing life as a struggle between the two. What’s even more wild is that collectively the nodes change as well, so it is important to know where and how you are relating to the outside world. To learn about your North and South Nodes, you can pull your own astrology chart here by entering your birth date, birth place, and birth time. If you already work with your Nodes, what has been your experience? I would love to hear your experience!
